THIS COURSE CONSISTS OF 3 SELF-PACED MODULES:Module 1: Reading Critically in Every Subject What does critical reading actually look like in science, social studies, math, or electives outside of ELA classes? How can teachers equip students with the tools to analyze context, understand subject-specific vocabulary, and make textual inferences in any subject area? This module introduces close reading and critical thinking strategies to help students engage with texts more deeply, no matter the discipline. Leave with practical techniques for teaching critical reading skills across your curriculum.
Module 2: Bringing Literacy Into Your Subject Area How can reading become a natural part of instruction, even in subjects that aren't traditionally text-heavy? What activities help get students reading while still meeting your content goals? This module shares specific, ready-to-use lessons and activities that merge literacy with subject-area learning. Leave with a toolkit of reading-integrated activities you can adapt to your own classroom.
Module 3: Building Lifelong Readers How do teachers move beyond assigned reading to help students develop a genuine love of books? What role does a teacher's own visible enthusiasm for reading play in shaping student habits?
