Finishing the work is not the same as closing the project well. This course focuses on wrapping projects up, reflecting on what happened, and collecting the evidence you need to show what the work actually achieved.

  • Clearer ways to close projects, manage transitions, and reflect on outcomes
  • More practical tools for collecting data and demonstrating project impact
  • A stronger process for improving future work instead of just moving on to the next thing

Take this course on its own, or complete all four courses in the series to earn the Project Management Certification from Library Journal.

THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF...

  • You’ve finished projects without ever really closing them well or learning much from them.
  • You need a better way to show impact and communicate results once the work is done.
  • You want your next project to be stronger because you reflected, not just because you survived it.

You’ll leave with a clearer way to close projects, demonstrate success, and carry what you learned into the next round of work.

PART OF A PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION SERIES

Project Management Part 4: Maximizing (and then demonstrating!) Your Success is one course in the Project Management Certification series. You can take this course on its own or complete all four for the full certification.

AFTER YOU ATTEND THIS COURSE, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO:

  • Create efficient processes for closing and reflecting on projects.
  • Collect data to demonstrate project impact and success.
  • Create processes for managing change and transitions.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships.
  • Iterate on processes and make improvements for future projects.

THIS COURSE CONSISTS OF 2 ON-DEMAND MODULES:

Module 1: Project Data: Demonstrating and Communicating Results

Demonstrating and communicating your project results effectively is essential for building credibility, securing future support, and showcasing the value your library delivers. This session will teach you practical skills for how to identify and collect meaningful project data, how to present results in a clear and visually engaging way, how to tailor your message for different audiences, and best practices for using your project outcomes to make a lasting case for your library's impact.

Module 2: Now What? Project Reflection and Closure

Ensuring you have a process in place to complete your project is just as important as your process for starting. Typical closing actions include finishing all project activities, archiving documents, obtaining acceptance for deliverables, and communicating project closure. This session will teach you how to close your contracts, conduct performance reviews, and manage transitions. You will learn how to reflect on the lessons you learned alongside your team to build and maintain relationships and establish your desired processes for future projects.
