An inclusive collection is an ongoing practice that requires ongoing attention.

Representation on the shelf matters, and getting there requires more than good intentions. In this course, you'll learn how to assess and weed your collection through an inclusive lens, conduct a meaningful diversity audit, and develop metrics that help you track progress over time. You'll go deep on collections for specific underrepresented identities, explore how to build and sustain momentum for inclusive collections work, and learn how to proactively protect your collection from censorship challenges. Whether you're just starting this work or looking to go further, this course gives you both the tools and the community support to keep going.

COURSE FORMAT

This is a fully self-paced, asynchronous online course consisting of 4 modules. Each module includes video instruction, slides, readings, and reflective exercises designed to connect concepts directly to your daily work.

 

EXPECTED TIME COMMITMENT

Each module is designed to take approximately 3 hours to complete, for a total of 12 professional development hours. You may move through the course at your own pace and on your own schedule.
